Writing

My writing about food policy, nutrition, agriculture, gardens and more has appeared in several publications. I was the founding editor of the UC Food Observer, a daily blog and social presence that I produced on behalf of the University of California’s Global Food Initiative. My writing has also been featured on KCET.org , Civil Eats, and in The Huffington Post. My work and research has been referenced in publications such as The New York Times, Mother Jones and AARP, and I’ve been interviewed for lots of podcasts over the years.

I’ve recently re-engaged with blogging via A Polyphonic Life, available on this site.

I’ve wrote a book about garden and food policy on the American homefront during World War I (and beyond). It’s a rich read that includes lots of wonderful information about suffrage, women’s horticultural schools, poster art, and post-WWII food policy.

A recent piece in faith-based publication is Responding in Faith, appearing in The Unmooring, v. 2, Issue 1.

I’m pivoting now, and writing a historical novels.
